3D simulation of texture evolution induced grain coarsening in FCC polycrystals during severe plastic deformation

Abstract In the present work, results obtained in 3D polycrystal simulations are reported on coalescence effect of neighbouring grains due to texture evolution. A cellular automaton model was developed for this purpose, which permits take into account topology coalescence. The constituting were divided voxels have realistic representations grain shapes. Taylor plasticity approach applied calculate orientation change each voxel. When disorientation angle between neighbour belonging different less than 5°, voxel volume reallocated grain. For a random initial texture, after shear strain 6, relative that re-assigned neighbours 29.7%, is not negligible. and also investigated. morphologies some typical coarsening monitored illustrate simulation results.
